In today’s breakdown we are going to look at 2 plays from the Celtics & the Timberwolves that are both designed to attack the ballscreen coverage from the Knicks & the Lakers.
Both the Knicks & the Lakers used their bigs higher up in hedge ballscreen coverage designed to take away the 3 point shooting attempts of players like Tatum and Anthony Edwards.
The Celtics countered this with their opening play to get KAT to help off the ball and then go into a ballscreen, and the Timberwolves used “Kickback” action to get AD out of position as well.
The difference? AD’s length, timing and position compared to KAT showcases the levels between both players in ballscreen coverage.
